Ann Shih

Ann has been a member of SWE since 2009. She is a Sr Chemical Design Engineer for the Lithium Processing Facility at CNS Y-12. She is pursing an Executive PhD in Business Information Technology at Virginia Tech. Ann was the Smoky Mountain SWE FY 2021 President. She is passionate about outreach and mentoring. She is interested in reaching out to new women engineers and helping them make connections with Smoky Mountain SWE members. Ann describes her leadership style as included with positivity and sincerity. She plans to have in-person panel discussion with several successful women engineer panelists from the local area if elected. She also plans to have networking events (e.g. for brain power – Board Game Night and for creativity – Christmas Cookie making party).

Lisa M. Smith

Lisa recently joined SWE but also participated in SWE activities during college. Lisa has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from UCLA and a MS in Mechanical Engineering from USC. She worked for Raytheon for 18 years, and she recently moved to Knoxville and now works at ORNL. The first half of her career was focused on mechanical design, but the second half of her career has been focused on additive manufacturing. Lisa has worked in a treasurer capacity before and is willing to help out the chapter where needed. Lisa describes herself as a servant leader. Lisa will strive to do this position well and help out in other ways to support the chapter

Katie McClure

Katie recently joined SWE. She is a 28 year old woman in the tech industry currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity. Currently she works for CNS Y-12. She has a strong technical background and a passion for advocating for personal development, career growth, and women advancement. She strives to provide the guidance and support necessary for other’s personal and professional development. Katie looks forward to helping improve section participation and social media presence. She is involved with other affinity groups that could be opportunities for shared resources.

Lexi Nicholes

Lexi has been a SWE member since 2019. She is a Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer at CNS Y-12. She graduated from Penn State with a B.S. in Nuclear Engineering in 2023. As a recent graduate, Lexi can easily relate to those still in college. Lexi has experience with outreach as an officer of the Penn State’s Women in Nuclear chapter. Lexi would like to improve the Smoky Mountain SWE by building strong connections with students through different types of events (e.g. social, networking, technical, etc.). Lexi describes her leadership style as democratic/participation. She looks forward to making connections with young women engineers and share her experiences as a woman in the engineering field if elected.
